Toyota Shows Stunning Corolla Super 2000 Rally Car
Toyota Australia has revealed its new Corolla rally car at the Melbourne International Motor Show. The striking new race car will be the world’s first new model Corolla homologated to the FIA’s Super 2000 (S2000) specifications. The S2000 category was developed by the FIA to allow manufacturers to build relatively inexpensive rally cars using a common, controlled formula.
Mercedes to unveil its BLUETEC technology
Mercedes-Benz is unveiling its highly environmentally-compatible BLUETEC emission-control technology in combination with a consumption-optimised four-cylinder engine for the first time at the 2007 Geneva Motor Show. In terms of ensuring compliance with the even stricter EURO 6 emission standard, applicable to all new vehicles Europe-wide from 2015, the Vision C 220 BLUETEC shows the way ahead. Boasting an output of 125 kW and a peak torque of 400 Nm, the Vision C 220 BLUETEC now requires only 5.5 litres of diesel per hundred kilometres, thanks largely to modified diesel engine technology and an intelligent system of energy management.
2008 Porsche Cayman
Cayman’s front, side and rear convex and concave surfaces are designed to move the air—and the driver’s soul—with equal ease. The 2.7-liter 6-cylinder boxer engine generates 245 horsepower, matched to a performance-oriented 6-speed manual. Also offered, is the Tiptronic S transmission with fully automatic 5-speed operation. On the body side panel is an intake that consists of three vertically divided sections, which optimizes airflow to the mid-mounted engine. A biplane spoiler that automatically extends at speeds above 75 mph provides greater adhesion by generating extra downforce that contributes to a top track speed 160 mph with manual transmission. It only takes 5.8 seconds to reach 60-mph from a complete stop.
Suzuki Grand Vitara
Exhibit at the 2006 auto show, the Suzuki Grand Vitara sport-ute presented a new generation of sleeker Suzuki vehicles. For 2007, the compact Grand Vitara comes in three trim levels: Base, XSport and Luxury. Technical highlights include the 185 horsepower, 2.7-liter V-6 engine, advanced chassis design, and available Four-Mode full-time 4-wheel-drive system with 2-speed transfer case. The engine comes with a 5-speed manual shifter as standard equipment, or available electronically controlled 5-speed automatic gearbox.
2008 Acura TSX Luxury
Acura’s popular TSX luxury sedan for 2008, has crisp lines, dynamic curves, signature 5-sided grille, and taillights that slope to meet a short, high trunk lid. Tasteful 17-inch, nine-spoke alloy wheels and Michelin all-season high-performance tires finish the TSX’s sporty appearance. Generating 205 horsepower, the 2.4-liter i-VTEC 4-cylinder engine is equipped with a drive-by-wire throttle control system, platinum-tipped spark plugs and a self-adjusting cam chain. The TSX comes standard with either a close-ratio 6-speed manual gearbox or a compact 5-speed Sequential SportShift automatic.

Audi A3
Audi has sold 1.5 million units of its successful A3 model since market launch in 1996. For 2007, the A3 2.0T comes with the new S-line Package, replacing last year’s Sport Package. Equipment content is the same, but the new S line package also receives more aggressive front and rear fascias, and S line badging on the exterior. The 200 horsepower, 2.0 T delivers remarkable performance and fuel efficiency wrapped in a sleek, sport-driven package.
2008 Cadillac CTS
Aggressive and elegant, expressive and sophisticated is how people are describing the thoroughly new and contemporary 2008 Cadillac CTS luxury sedan. On the exterior, there’s no mistaking the 5-passenger midsize sedan’s stronger stance, and the faster profile with more rake, coupled with surfaces that add elegance and grace. The vertically shaped headlights and taillights on the ’08 CTS are signature Cadillac characteristics. Buyers have the choice of standard-equipped rear-wheel and optional all-wheel drive. The CTS comes with a 2-inch wider track as a result of the all-wheel-drive configuration.
Hyundai Accent 3 Door
Hyundai’s Accent lineup for 2007 adds sporty GS and SE 3-door models to e xisting 4-door GLS . Both 3-door models have a 110 horsepower, 1.6-liter 4-cylinder engine with Continuously Variable Valve Timing performance and standard 5-speed manual gearbox. An optional 4-speed automatic transmission has overdrive lock-up torque converter to maximize fuel economy at highway speeds. Tricked-out factory accessories for the 3-door include a grou nd effects kit.
2007 Jeep Compass
The 2007 Jeep Compass is the brand’s first front-wheel-drive-based product with a fully independent suspension. This new Jeep is available in both Compass and Compass Limited models, with front- wheel drive or full-time all-wheel drive systems. Compass has 60.7-cubic feet of cargo space with the front passenger seat back and rear seats folded flat. Compass features a standard 172 horsepower, 2.4-liter 4-cylinder with standard 5-speed manual transaxle, or available Continuously Variable Transaxle with 6-speed AutoStick.
MINI Cooper S
A particularly striking design feature of the all-new 2007 MINI Cooper S is the muscular powerdome hood with built-in air scoop. The hood, along with the black mesh hexagon radiator grille and turbocharged 1.6-liter 4-cylinder engine helps the Cooper S to stand out from the entry level Cooper. The overall length of the ’07 MINI Cooper S has been extended by a mere 2.4-inches over the length of its predecessor. With 175 horsepower, the ‘07 Cooper S sprints from 0-to-62 mph in 7.1 seconds and tops off at 140 mph.
2008 Volvo C30
Three concept variations of the Volvo C-30 coupe maybe coming to the 2007 Chicago show. The blue & yellow (Swedish colors) C30 has fully articulating gull-wing doors, and super deep-dish Pentasport alloy wheels. Backing the aggressive appearance on the Yellow C30 is a 2.5-liter inline 5-cylinder engine that delivers an amazing 507 horsepower and 468-lb.-ft of torque to the Volvo all-wheel drive system. Special goodies on that engine feature a custom turbo, custom tubing and blow off valve.
Mini Convertible Concept
Fun in the sun is at the heart of the 2007 Mini Convertibles. A fully automatic top with a heated glass rear window comes standard on the Mini Convertibles. However a truly innovative feature of the convertible top is an integrated power sliding sunroof feature. The sunroof allows for open-air motoring and can be opened or closed while traveling at speeds of up to 75 miles-per-hour. From completely closed to fully open, the top operation takes only 15-seconds. When down, much of the top recesses below the rear deck, resulting in a very clean look and eliminating the need for a tonneau cover. With new color and option choices, the ‘07 MINI Convertibles holds Base Prices to 2006 levels.
4th-generation Mitsubishi Eclipse
Since the 4th-generation Mitsubishi Eclipse was launched as a 2006 model, the 2007 lineup receives mild upgrades. Eclipse is offered in two trim and performance levels. A 162 horsepower, 2.4-liter 4-cylinder engine, propels the GS model, while the GT comes fitted with a 263 horsepower, 3.8-liter V-6. Both engines project a deep note through the oversize tailpipes. With the standard 6-speed manual gearbox, the GT accelerates from 0-to-60 miles per hour in 5.8-seconds. Optional on the GT is a 5-speed automatic. The GS features a 5-speed manual
2008 Subaru Outback
Subaru restyled its two midsize cars, the Legacy and Outback, for 2007. The Outback’s makeover is milder than that of the Legacy, as it doesn’t affect much beyond the front. Tweaks include a slightly modified interior, as well as an upgraded automatic transmission with steering-wheel paddle shifters for six-cylinder Outbacks. Subaru’s SI-Drive feature, which allows drivers to choose from three preset levels of accelerator and transmission response, becomes available on six-cylinder Outbacks.
Trim levels range from the base Outback through the fully loaded L.L.Bean edition, the latter now available on both four- and six-cylinder Outbacks. The lineup offers sedan and wagon versions of nearly all trim levels. The Outback Sport, though related by name, is actually based on Subaru’s smaller Impreza.
2008 BMW 5 Series
Greater performance, updated styling, enhanced safety, interior refinements and new luxury options define the all new 2008 BMW 5 Series Sedan and Sports Wagon. As an option and, indeed, as a highly interesting alternative to the standard 6-speed manual gearbox, all model variants in the new 5 Series are available with a 6-speed automatic transmission as a no-extra-cost option. Plans call for Acura to exhibit the sleek Advanced Sedan concept at the 2007 Chicago Auto Show. Created in Acura’s Los Angeles design studio, the Advanced Sedan is highlighted by its powerful, wide stance, sculpted body and a roof constructed entirely of tinted glass. Low to the ground, the concept is over 6.6-feet wide, and rolls on large 22-inch front and 23-inch rear tires, mounted to custom billet-machined, polished aluminum wheels.2008 Buick Enclave
The Buick Enclave crowns GM’s newest batch of crossover SUVs, a group that also includes the Saturn Outlook and GMC Acadia. The Enclave has some features not seen on the Outlook or Acadia, though, like a power-adjustable steering wheel, rear backup camera and additional noise insulation. Like its siblings, the Enclave offers three rows of seats standard. Trim levels include the base CX and uplevel CXL.
The crossovers signal a dramatic departure from GM’s current truck-based offerings, including the Chevrolet TrailBlazer and GMC Envoy. The Outlook, Acadia and Enclave are car-based, offering modern six-speed automatic transmissions and 3.6-liter V-6 engines that help them achieve substantially better gas mileage.

GMC Acadia Crossover
GMC enters the crossover SUV market for the first time with the release of its all-new 2007 Acadia. Visually, Acadia reflects design cues found on GMC full-size SUVs, with an athletic body accented by a tapered roofline, polished aluminum roof rails, large headlights with projector beam technology, LED taillights, and rear spoiler. Acadia features a body-frame integral design that enables lower step-in height, and seating for up to 8-occupants.
2008 Audi Q7 TDI concept
Muscular, but elegant describes the elongated figure of the new Audi Q7 TDI concept vehicle. Predicting the styling of the coming 2008 Q7, the concept’s most striking feature is the enormous, vertical single-frame radiator grille. Flanking the grille are wide headlight units with visible light tubes. The multi-purposed vehicle also sports a flowing roofline with coupe-like profile, and steeply angled D-pillars.The awesome 500 horsepower, 6.0-liter V-12 TDI directs its power to a new 6-speed tiptronic transmission, and from here, the forces flow to a quattro driveline. Incredibly fast for its size, the Q7 TDI sprints from 0-to-60 miles per hour in just 5.5-seconds, and thanks to its diesel engine, achieves around 20 mpg combined city and highway. Leather upholstered interior offers 3-rows of seating to accommodate up to 7-people. Carbon panels give added emphasis to the interior’s sporting flair.
